My Story

What drew me to Yoga over 10 years ago? I couldn’t tell you now. An image of grace, strength and flexibility, likely. I started with a Yoga video, learning the poses. Eventually, I started dropping in at various Yoga classes, trying my hand at Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Moksha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Hidden Language Yoga. And I loved it all (or most of it anyway). I loved the way my body felt as it stretched and moved. I loved linking my breath to my movements. But for the longest time it was a physical endeavour, solely Yoga asanas (poses).

While I was continuing with my physical Yoga practice I was also searching for something. I didn’t know what, but looking back I can say I was looking for my spirituality. I was looking for something that felt right. I grew up Atheist, but I always believed in an energy connecting everything. I started trying to meditate on my own, but wasn’t progressing very far.

I decided to do a Yoga and Meditation retreat at a Buddhist Retreat Centre in Scotland. That retreat opened up the world of meditation to me along with the concept of a spiritual community. And over a year later, I was also drawn towards Buddhism.

I continued to study and, upon returning from the UK, completed my Yoga Teacher Training. While Yoga asana drew me into the Yogic path, many other things have kept me here. I love meditation, breathing exercises, mantras and the Eightfold Path of Yoga.

I love Yoga and I feel that it has opened me up to so much happiness in my life. I enjoy practicing and teaching both physical Yoga (asanas) and the other more spiritual aspects of Yoga. I am excited to continue exploring this path.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to share Yoga and meditation with others. My Yoga and Buddhism practice has become the basis of my strength, confidence and joy in life!

Peace, Love and Light
